Smoking is a habit or addiction?. How often do you see ads and hear people say you should stop smoking now, quit smoking, try patches, use a vape? It doesn't matter the cost or damage they do to you, just stop smoking. Even I said on this website that it was easy for me to quit. I wonder if you feel that smoking is a habit or an addiction? Could it possibly be both? There was a time people didn’t think they could sit in a cinema without smoking or fly without smoking during the flight; but people do this all the time now, so if it was an addiction could they manage an 8 hour flight without a cigarette? If it's a habit why do people feel it's hard to break and they need nicotine supplements to help them?
Let's start with why I found it easy to quit smoking. I had a real tangible reason for ME to quit. I was not willing to pay €12 per day for 20 cigarettes. That was the only motivation I needed to quit. So along with the very important tangible reason and my own self guided hypnosis, I was able to quit easily.
You might wonder how I managed to stay off them for the last 12 years. Simple, anytime I had a thought of a cigarette, I changed the thought immediately. This was made easier by the use of hypnosis. Anytime the thought didn't change straight away, I feared that if I had one, it would do damage to my confidence and my ability to control my behaviour. Also I knew I didn't really want one. It was just a passing memory of something I enjoyed in the past but I had no use for now.

Yes you do need will power to help you at the beginning but its having that tangible reason to quit smoking that will help you to successfully quit smoking. How about 1 month? 6 months? How about that 1 year anniversary of being a non-smoker? Now, how about if you phoned me and you said you wanted to quit smoking and i said great i really want to help you so here is the deal if you give up smoking today and you are still off the in 1 years time i will buy you a house and give you 100k per year that you are off the cigarettes what % sure would you be that you would be off them in 1 week? 1 month? 6 months? And after 1 year? If you say 100% then you have a tangible motivation to be a non-smoker and you will succeed. So you see, to ensure you give up smoking forever together we need to find the right tangible motivation for you right now.
So let's go full circle and back to the very first question for you: is smoking a habit or addiction? Before I see you for my stop smoking clinical hypnotherapy I expect you to be a non-smoker for 48 hours. If you can do this we can be successful in keeping you as a non-smoker.
