This seems to be the big question right now from clients. So let's delve into it a little.
Over the last 15 months online hypnotherapy and hypnosis recordings have been the way of life due to Covid.
What are the benefits of hypnosis recordings? Well, let's be honest, they are cheap, always available when you need them and you can do them in your own time and space.
Are they any good? Well yes, they are professionally done. They can help with whatever lifestyle change you are trying to make and anything that helps people focus on themselves in a relaxing way has to be considered good.
Do clients benefit from them? Absolutely! Clients benefit from hypnosis recordings otherwise there wouldn't be such a big market. However, it's unsure how successful they are when recorded as generic recordings. My own research (asking clients who tried them before coming to me) shows that people don't complain when they don't work because they are cheap and they "we're only trying it to see if it helps" and "I didn't really expect it to work"
So, yes they work and sometimes that is all a person needs to succeed and other times they are considered a waste of time. Everyone is an individual.
My view: If that is all someone can afford or it suits their personality, they do work and are successful.
Hypnotherapist: Any good hypnotherapist is always training and learning, it is how we continually evolve so we can better help people.
What are the benefits of seeing a hypnotherapist? Firstly, they take a complete history of you, your issue and what you have done to overcome it, how long its being going on, when it started etc., but just as importantly they want to know your outcome goals and then a good hypnotherapist outlines a process to help you. This process can be one session or a number of sessions but you should always see progress happening, even after the first session. Each session will be individually adapted to you as long as they are (hopefully), good enough not to use bought scripts!
My view: A good hypnotherapist will help you to overcome your problem during sessions and should provide a recording to help you continue the succesful work done in person. The recording is done to meet your specific needs and as a way of continually helping you outside of the in person sessions.
Conclusion: There is a place for hypnotherapists and recordings. The funny thing is if you ask any hypnotherapist about doing hypnosis they will be very dismissive of scripts but yet they do generic recordings from scripts.
Think about you and your goals and how you would like to achieve them, how long have you had the problem and what steps have you taken already? Hypnotherapy is not a magic pill but it is very succesful and sometimes generic hypnosis recordings are very successful. The decision is yours to make but if I were you, I know what I'd do....
Be the best you can be!
